CHURCH  BOARD  CHAIR  REPORT

TO  THE

CONGREGATIONAL  BUSINESS  MEETING

November 13, 2005

As you have heard and read already from the Commission reports, 2005 has been a good year for the Kokomo Church.  We have accomplished many things this year.  I have been impressed with the leadership within the church this past year.  We have carried on the work of Christ without a full time minister.  Pastor Don Ritchey, Pastor Martha Cory and Pastor Jamie Risser have done an excellent job of leading our congregation.  I would like to thank them for all of their hard work and leadership.  Pastor Don filled the Pulpit from January 16 through August 28.  Pastor Jamie started in the Pulpit on September 4 to present.  Pastor Martha is coordinating the Care Giving (she has spent many hours visiting in the hospitals and shut-ins, as well as assisting our church family with funerals).

There have been 4 new members received into the church by baptism, since our Business meeting last November.  We have lost 4 members to death.  This brings our present membership to 164.  Average worship attendance to date is 89, down slightly from last year.

There were no births in the church family this year.

The Church Board was reorganized in December 2004 for the 2005 year.  Glenda Wann was elected Vice Chairman.  The Nurture Commission was chaired by Sharon Fife with Janita Beall, Carrie Bush, Joe Denniston, Judy Denniston and Alan Lawson.  The Witness Commission was chaired by Harry Wray with Mike Dzierla, John Fruth, Joyce Fruth, Glenda Wann and Jim Wann.  The Steward Commission was chaired by Craig Bush with Colleen Clark, Norm Cory, Darrin Martin, Roy Martin, Sandy Sarber and Tim Swisher. Monthly board meetings are the first Tuesday of each month.  Congregation members are always welcome. Dick Fife is Treasurer and Barbara Corwin is our Clerk.  Greg Cunningham is our Deacon Chairman.

Joe Good resigned from the Board in February.  He was replaced by Roy Martin.  Darrin Martin was also added to assist the Steward Commission.

Daniel Cooper resigned as Youth Director in April.  A Recognition Dinner was held in Daniel and Samantha's honor on April 24.  A gift and Certificate of Appreciation were given at that time. Cheryl Little was hired for the position in May.  She is very excited about her new role and doing a great job.

At the annual church picnic on August 28, we honored Don and Mary Ritchey for their unselfish service to our church as Interim Pastor.  A wooden plaque was given to them, along with "Fish Notes".

In September, Karl Stone started his MIT. Karl is preaching one Sunday per month, Worship Leader the other Sundays each month and leading choir.  This is an exciting time for our church, as we help Karl in his pursuit of his Pastoral Education.

Our church participated and hosted in the Lenten Sectional Services (our choir sing at Pipe Creek on March 6, we hosted a service on March 13).

A Matthew 18 Workshop was held at the church in February.  It was a very good workshop and was attended by 20 persons.

Colleen Clark is heading up the church website  - www.kokomocob.com - . If you haven't checked it, do so.

New pew bibles were purchased and placed in pews "In memory of Noble Morphew".

I would like to thank all of the 2005 board members, Pastor Don, Pastor Martha and Pastor Jamie for their hard work and dedication to the church.  I would also like to extend a special thanks to Sharon Fife for her 3 years of dedicated service to the board and to Roy Martin for his 1 year of service (he filled an unexpired term).  Dave Donaldson has served as our Moderator for the past 6 years.  We are grateful for his service to our church.

My first year as board chairman has been challenging and rewarding.  Thank you for your encouragement and patience.  Let's hit 2006 head on and do the work of Christ with love, caring and enthusiasm.

Respectfully submitted,

Carroll Corwin, Church Board Chairman
